NATALIA PAVANELLI

WANDWOODS

Natalia is a Brazilian-Canadian designer with an all-out passion for sustainability, fashion, and textile design. With a BA in Industrial Design, a diploma in Fashion Design, and 11 years of experience in the fashion industry, she is finally ready to take my place in the Sustainable Fashion Market through the Cottagecore Aesthetic.

Natalia was born in Brazil, but she started traveling very young. She spent her childhood in Germany and Spain, followed by a work experience in France. These experiences have taught her to embrace new cultures. her passion for History, Art, and Vintage grew through the years, with a British and European eye and personality. However, it was only two years ago, after five years of living in Canada, that she discovered Cottagecore.

Discovering this community has switched her mindset. It was a switch off from stress and a switch in the way she used to consume, the way she saw life, with an English-Vintage aesthetic that brings the calmness of a Monet painting. At that moment, she decided to create Wandwoods, a brand that advocates for a more sustainable, calm, and romantic way of life here in North America.

OLIVEANKARA

Born and raised in Venice, Italy, Ify’s love for African fashion blossomed early in childhood, for which her Nigerian family takes most of the credit. Within a tight-knit African community in Italy, she was exposed to the many facets of West African culture, from its traditions and folklore to the meaning behind its vibrant colours.

Before starting OliveAnkara, she completed her studies with a PhD in Human Molecular Genetics at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, she first moved to Singapore to further her career with a Post Doctorate in Molecular Carcinogenesis at the National Cancer Centre.

Her move into the fashion industry started when she noticed the absence of African culture in Singapore while trying to source African prints to make her wedding dress. She took on the responsibility of bridging this gap with the creation of OliveAnkara in 2017, which also rekindled her love for fashion. It was not until 2019, buoyed by early successes and a growing loyal base of customers, that Ify turned her passion side hustle into a full-time career.

Driven by passion and her love for diverse cultures, Ify has centred her slow fashion sustainable brand around two core values: female empowerment and sustainability.

Following her graduation from Ravensbourne College in London, she honed her skills in UK brands like Burberry and Preen to trends-forecasting giant WGSN. Over the next decade, she designed for: Chinese luxury label Exception de Mixmind, Hong Kong/Milan label Anteprima, and Spanish brand Adolfo Dominguez.
